Description
This female mallard duck was strolling along the lakeshore, using small stones as stepping stones across the sand. She came up quite close which allowed me to take this cute photo of her. This image is a somewhat rare natural portrait.
Mallards are dabbling ducks �they feed in the water by tipping forward and grazing on underwater plants. Yet this one was very interested in the sand around her and what it might contain.
